Land Acknowledgement

the- hOle -studio acknowledges that we are located on the traditional territories of the Wendat, the Anishinaabeg Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and other nations who have cared for this land since time immemorial. This land is covered by Treaty 13. As newcomers and artists, we recognize our responsibility to listen, reflect, and create in ways that honour Indigenous histories, practices, and futures. We are committed to ongoing learning and unlearning, and to building reciprocal, respectful relationships with the communities whose land we now call home.

Who We Are

Founded in Toronto, Canada in 2025, the- hOle -studio is a non-profit interdisciplinary theatre and film company working between Toronto, Paris, and Tehran. We are a home for contemporary performance, a laboratory for diasporic storytelling, and a platform for radical experimentation. Born from the convergence of Tehran’s underground avant-garde and Toronto’s vibrant multiculturalism, we build bridges between languages, identities, and forms of expression.

Co-founded by writer-director Jaber Ramezan and costume designer Negar Nemati, the- hOle -studio reflects their shared commitment to bold narratives and boundary-pushing aesthetics. We speak in both Persian and English, creating spaces where immigrant and newcomer stories are not just welcomed—they are centered.
