Jaber Ramezan
Jaber is a writer, director, and choreographer whose work explores the space between narrative and form, theatre and dance and documentary. Co-founder of the–hOle–studio, he has created stage and film projects internationally for over fifteen years, including “Swim Team” (Tehran 2010; Toronto 2018) and “we can not talk about it” (Tehran, Malaysia 2016). His acclaimed work “Slow Sound of Snow” established him as a defining voice in Iranian contemporary theatre and earned him multiple awards, including Best Director at the ITSELF Festival in Warsaw. His recent projects include “Boundaries of Bodies” at Théâtre de la Ville – Paris (2025–26 season). A laureate of the Institut Français × Cité internationale des arts residency in Paris, he also participated in Transmission Impossible, a choreographic research program at the 79th Festival d’Avignon, continuing his transdisciplinary practice across theatre, dance, and film. Jaber is currently engaged in a series of experimental projects with his team, spanning Europe, Canada, and Iran.

the- hOle -studio is a non-profit company making theatre, film, dance and hybrid performance. Co-founded by writer-director Jaber Ramezan (co-founder of Tehran’s The Hole in the Wall) and Canadian Screen–winning costume designer Negar Nemati, we fuse Tehran’s avant-garde roots with international collaboration across Iran, Europe, and Canada.

Rules for the Road
Negar Nemati
Negar is a costume designer with nearly twenty years of experience.
She Studied Theatre at Tehran University of Fine Arts where she developed her foundation in character creation and visual storytelling. Over the years, her work has brought memorable characters to life across stage and screen.
Negar’s costume design in “Universal Language”, directed by Matthew Rankin, earned her multiple nominations and awards, including Achievement in Costume Design at the 13th Canadian Screen Awards and Best Costume Designer in a Sci-Fi/Fantacy Movie at 2025 CAFTCAD Awards
Negar has collaborated with many acclaimed directors, including two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi and internationally renowned theatre director Amir Reza Koohestani. Her design for Farhadi’s A Hero was nominated for Best Costume Design in Film and TV – International at the 2022 CAFTCAD Awards.Negar received the Best Costume Design Award in 2018 for the Berlinale-nominated film “Pig” at The 20th Celebration of Iranian Cinema, and in 2016 she won in the same category for “A Dragon Arrives!” from the Iranian Film Critics Guild.As a theatre costume designer, Negar has worked with prestigious theatres across Iran, Europe, and Canada. She is a proud member of CAFTCAD and IATSE 873.
